Amyris essential oil is steam distilled from the wood and branches of the Amyris balsamifera tree. Often referred to as “West Indian Sandalwood” due to its soft, balsamic, sandalwood-like aroma, it offers a more accessible alternative to traditional sandalwood oils.
Rich, smooth and gently sweet, Amyris is widely used in perfumery and grounding aromatherapy blends. Its calming scent is often chosen to support relaxation, quiet reflection and evening rituals, making it a beautiful companion for meditation or wind-down practices.
In topical applications (properly diluted), it is appreciated for its emollient qualities and is commonly included in skincare and massage formulations designed to nourish and soften the skin.
Historically known as “candle wood” due to its naturally high oil content, the tree has long been valued for its aromatic properties throughout the Caribbean.
